+ 12 Scriptures Affirming Your Beauty, Value & Identity
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could only see ourselves the way God sees us? But the reality is, even if there weren’t mirrors, our inner voice is good at her mean-girl role. However, God left us a love letter, and today I’m sharing 12 scripture affirmations with you that confirm the way God See’s You.
Through the Eyes of a Baby (or Diaper Commercial)
I recently saw a Pampers commercial that asked women to “Imagine if we saw ourselves the way our babies saw us.” “You are beautiful,” a child’s voiceover says. “You are smart. You are strong. You are kind. You are. . . perfect.” In between those words, we see moms struggling to keep all the stress of motherhood and working in balance, with the loving eyes of their baby looking on.
Hearing those accolades in our supposed children’s voices was a powerful way to give us pause when our inner critic is wreaking havoc. But then I thought, “What if we could see ourselves the way God sees us?“. Because you know, my children are grown and I know exactly how they see me. Babysitter and favorite treat-maker! 😉
What if while you were bent close to the mirror picking apart every pore, pimple, and wrinkle, you could hear God say, “You are so much more than beautiful.”
God Sees Even Purer than a Baby
Imagine if those same affirmations were audibly voiced over in God’s voice (the way you think God sounds). “You’re strong, smart, funny, and kind. You’re perfect just as you are.” And in between, a film rolls showing you struggling to balance life, find self-acceptance and do all the hard stuff.
What if while you were bent close to the mirror picking apart every pore, pimple, and wrinkle, you could hear God say, “You are so much more than beautiful.”
He created us, women, with an innate desire to be lovely on the outside.
I believe God cares about what we care about and that He created us, women, with an innate desire to be lovely on the outside. We are bombarded with ridiculous beauty standards: fake lashes, fake hair, fake boobs, flat tummies, no wrinkles, discolorations, and even facial movement has been deemed unacceptable.
Anyone else sick of watching women talk and the only facial movement is an eye blink and their lips moving over perfect Chicklet teeth? Maybe it’s just me.
Listen, I get it. Even as I was writing this post and feeling all sorts of wonderful envisioning the way God sees through to my inner beauty and strengths, a new skin treatment regimen for an upcoming collaboration has torn my face to pieces. And although my plight is temporary, just one glance in the mirror threatens to tear down all God’s words I was reading and know to be true. But what we have to remember is that God sees far beyond appearance.
Maybe we’ve been told through actions or words that we don’t matter, or we’ve had a big ol’ fail day as a parent, wife, or friend. Viewing perfectly coifed, dressed, and filtered social media personalities can bring us down. We can even struggle grapple with the type of person we have become if we act out in ways that are ugly or inappropriate. In short, we can feel plain horrible about ourselves in one way or another.
So how can we get and keep a better grasp on how God sees us through His eyes?

Self-Affirmation is Great, but God Affirmations are Better
It’s common these days to develop a habit of self-affirmation, and it’s not without value. But, our circumstances, mood, and too often, the mirror can derail even the best practice. But God’s words and His love for us never change!
A Practice More Important than Self-Affirmations
While most of us won’t audibly hear God’s voice until we reach heaven, He reminds us of our beauty and strength and worth in His word. The bible says to “hide His word in our hearts,” but quite honestly, even as a lover of the Word of God, I’m terrible at remembering scripture accurately. I know the essence, and I believe it’s hidden in my heart but as a visual person having scripture in front of me is vital to winning the battle.
This battle is in our minds and our eyes. And while our eyes might immediately go to our perceived flaws, God looks at us with gentleness and love in an entirely different way.
Here’s What God Sees When He Looks at You
God Sees Your Beauty
- You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you. (Sol. 4:7)
- She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. (Prov. 31:25)
- You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. Is. 62:3
- My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. (Song 2:10)
God sees, Your Value
- …Created to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph. 2:10)
- Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her! (Lu. 1:45)
- God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. (Ps. 46:5)
- But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1 Sam 16:7)
God Sees Your Strength
- And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. (1 Pet. 5:10)
God Sees Your Worth
- She is worth far more than rubies. (Prov. 31:10)
- But by the grace of God, I am what I am. (1 Cor. 15:10)
- See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands… (Is. 49:16)
Start a Practice of God-Affirmations
Reading these scriptures repeatedly, writing out God’s affirmations, and even creating graphics to be framed and put in places I’ll see them will be my go-to’s for reminding me how much I am loved, valued, and cherished. They will encourage me to skip the mirror not only when I need to be reminded that I’m beautiful but seeing these words daily will change the way I think about myself at the core level. They will solidify that I am not just a commodity judged at face value (or the value of my face). 😉

Beautiful Woman, God Sees You
Won’t you join me in daring to imagine what God sees when He looks at you? And just so you know, He never takes His eyes off of you. He’s lovingly looking at you in every situation.
Because you are beautiful, you are smart. You are strong. You are kind. You are. . . perfect. And far beyond that, you are loved no matter what you look like, what you’ve done, or how you act.

A Prayer When You’re Struggling
Lord, help me to see what you see in me. When I am afraid, show me the warrior inside me. If I doubt your love, let me physically feel the warmth of your Spirit surround me. Blind me to my physical imperfections and reveal to me my inner beauty and return your Words back into my mind. Help me to remember that above all else, I am a daughter, your daughter, and you see no flaw in me. You champion and fight for me and because I carry your name I am chosen, valuable and esteemed.
Probably needed this one. Thanks!

Your post brought me to tears, Paula. Thank you so very much for saying the words I needed to hear. I’m printing out the prayer and going to put it on my bathroom mirror- a place where I judge myself daily, but now realize it’s a place where I need to be reminded NOT to judge, but to look at myself through God’s eyes only.
Bless you, Paula!

Such a lovely prayer. Those inner voices sure know us well, don’t they? I think a lot about my outward appearance now that I am a widow. My husband agreed with God. He thought I was beautiful and perfect now if I can get myself to keep remembering I will be ok. Good post.

You WILL be okay Victoria! The plan He has for you will reveal itself when it’s time. I love God, but His “never early l, never late” timeline bristles my “a little early” desires. 😘
Beautiful post! I heard someone say once – maybe it was you – when we question our looks we are questioning Gods creation. HE made us and everything HE makes is perfect. He doesn’t see our outer beauty as who we are but our inner beauty. But I’m guilty of questioning His creation – why didn’t you make me pretty like her or thin like her or … like her? The answer is because He made me – ME! And I am perfect in His eyes! Thanks for the reminder. ❤️

Hey Gina,
I’ve heard that too. Such a great thought, but hard to remember when our tendency is to compare ourselves to a reality that doesn’t exist.
Hugs,
Paula
What a valuable beautiful post, Paula!!! I loved reading it and agree wholeheartedly!
SO beautifully said, and something we all need to remember 🤎💜
In the eyes of God everyone is beautiful and when he sees you, he sees your beauty, strength, worth and his greatest creation. Just know that you’re perfect even with your imperfections.
