and Bonus Plus Size Styling Tips
If the weather is cooling down where you are but you’re not quite ready to put away your pretty summer dresses, you don’t have to. In fact, I love wearing my summery dresses well into fall. So today I’m sharing with you how to style summer dresses into fall and I’m guessing you ALREADY have all the pieces in your closet.
Labor Day Weekend
I’m BACK! Blogging consistency has never been my strong suit, but when I’m crazy busy, I pretty much hang up the title of blogger. The older I get, the less I can multi-task.
While most people engaged end of summer hoopla this past weekend, ours was one of the most epic Labor Days our family ever spent together. My baby sister got married! It was beautiful!
My daughter-in-law and I did most of the planning so it was crazy busy leading up to and during the actual event. I’ll share more in the coming weeks, including the dress I ended up wearing to the wedding. But now I’m back and I have lots of good things to share with you and I’m starting with how to get more mileage out of our summer dresses.

Even though we didn’t celebrate Labor Day in a traditional way and we have a couple of more weeks until it’s officially autumn, our temps are turning cooler, getting into the ’50s at night and seventies during the day. Now seems the perfect time to start thinking about campfires, mums, apple cider, and booties.
Did you think I was going to say pumpkin spice everything? Well, I can pass on that, but give me all things cozy like sweaters and booties.
It’s Almost Fall but Please, Pass the Sundresses?
You read that right. I’m not even close to being done with my summer dresses because I’ve only recently found this polka dot sundress and I love it so much might have worn it for three consecutive days. Ssshhh! Don’t tell anybody.
Call me crazy for buying sundresses dresses in September, but then I went ahead and ordered it in solid black. However, this inexpensive summer dress won’t sit in my closet until next summer because I’m giving her plenty of life well into fall with a few strategic pieces I already own.
I highly recommend this sundress because the quality of the fabric feels much more expensive than it is and it hangs so well. But you can style almost any summer dress for fall, even an all-white one.

Denim Jackets & Booties
Girls, I’ve preached this message before and I’m still evangelizing about the versatility of denim jackets and booties. If this look doesn’t prove that they have magical outfit abilities, I don’t know what else to say.
Oh But Wait… Chunky Cardigans too!
For an even a cozier look, add a chunky cardigan.
Curvy Girl Style Tips
If you have larger hips and buns, (I’m raising my hand over here), I think it’s best to opt for a cropped jacket or cardigan that hits at your waist.
Since I’m wearing a midi dress, I’ve chosen to wear ankle booties with it. However, if I were wearing a knee-length dress, I would also have the option of wearing knee-high boots.

Are YOU Styling Summer Dresses into Fall Too?
What about you? You may already be a fashionista who likes to get more mileage out of your clothes by styling them for multiple seasons. But if not, are you now going to be styling your summer dresses for fall?

Wow! Love the different looks! You look stunning of course! Can’t wait to hear/see the rest of the story and some pics from the wedding. What a huge undertaking that was! Have a great weekend!

Thanks Gina! It was a pretty small wedding but honestly I don’t think the size matters. You end up planning the same regardless of the size of the crowd. 😬
Very cute looks! Thanks for the ideas!

You’re welcome Susan! When you love a piece it’s easy to dream up more ideas for how to keep wearing it. 😁
Hand raised over here for adding a denim jacket to transition to Fall!!! I have a couple of darker color dresses and they look great with the jacket on top. In my very chilly office, there’s no need to even take the jacket off, so no one knows I’m wearing a summer dress… although, didn’t they notice me when I wore it in the Summer??? Man, no one pays attention around here! LOL!! BTW- that cute Old Navy dress you’re wearing is all but sold out online. You have a lot of influence, Paula!!
Happy to see a new post from you, and glad your sister’s wedding was so awesome!
Hugs, Donna

Ha! The solid black one was available as of yesterday. Hopefully it still is because I don’t think my influence is that good. 😂
My son was married last Friday (9/4/20) and it was wonderful to spend the weekend with family. Ahhh… memories along with laughter… PERFECT combination!!

Agreed Charlene! It’s a wonderful time and we had so much fun too. But wow, recovery takes a bit longer than it used to and we don’t even drink! 😂

Congrats to you ALL Charlene! We also had a wonderful weekend. It was small with only a few friends among our larger family but so fun to see the family all together.
Hugs,
Paula
I’m looking forward to hearing more about the wedding, and of course, pictures.

Thanks Diane! I’m a little aggravated that I didn’t get any/many photos with my phone or something. But I was so busy that I left it up to the photographer and now I’ll have to wait about 8 weeks. UGH!
Hugs,
Paula
