Styling 4 Full-Figured Fashion Deals from Chic Soul’s Black Friday Doorbusters,

With Full-figured Fashion, Styling is Everything

Are you all super busy getting ready for your Thanksgiving feast? Me too! I made my turkey and gravy ahead of time so I’ve got a little breathing room. But if you’re a curvy lady interested in full-figured or plus-size fashion and looking your BEST, take a minute to get prepared for Chic Soul’s Black Friday Door-Buster event.

I’m excited to be working with Chic Soul, an online boutique for trendy, plus-size clothing ranging from size 10 to 24. It’s been a goal of mine since starting dimples on my WHAT?! To introduce you to brands that offer quality clothing for full-figured women that are on-trend and unique. So when Chic Soul reached out to me to style their Black Friday Door-buster pieces, I jumped at the chance.

Quality Garments for a Great Price

I have purchased from Chic Soul before, and the items I’ve purchased have quality beyond their price-point. Here’s a tunic dress I bought last year and never had the opportunity to post because of things going on with my Dad.

STYLING IS EVERYTHING – especially with plus-size clothing

We’ll get to the doorbuster items in a minute, so read fast. 😉 But I want to take a minute to address plus-size fashion in general.

I’m just going to say it straight up – Lots of clothes made for the curvy or plus-size woman are, shall we say, like tents. Oops! Did I just say that?

Think of it like this, if you throw a sheet over a couch or armchair, it looks like a big blob sitting in your living room. However, if you start folding and tucking the cloth into the lines of the sofa, you will have a gorgeous slipcover in no time.

This same concept applies to our clothes. Belts and strategic tucks can be curvy girl’s best friends!

Speaking of which, these pieces won’t be available until Friday (11/29/20) so I couldn’t link to all the specific items beforehand. With that being said, let’s get to these gorgeous and cozy pieces pronto so you can get your shopping list ready for Black Friday.

The Sipping Cider Poncho

Old Navy Dress (similar) || Belt || Naturalizer Wide-Calf Boots (similar) || Tote || Tummy Smoother

The Chic Soul Sipping Cider Poncho in my favorite black and white buffalo check has me feeling all kinds of chic worn belted over a simple black knit dress and a cognac riding boots. It will also be available in a red/black combination.

Curvy Girl Style Tips

Remember, even curvy girls can and should wear belts. I’ve belted around the entirety of the poncho/shawl to give it a bit of shape from any angle, but you could leave the back loose and belt around the front alone.

And should you prefer not to belt it, pair ponchos and voluminous tops with slim-fitting items, like body-con dresses and skinny jeans.

This would look great with jeans and a turtleneck sweater or just fold it up and stick it inside your handbag for chilly restaurants or theaters. But if I’m going to really be sipping cider in it, I’d definitely wear it draped over some cozy pj’s. 😉 These are my FAVORITE PJ’s and a set is currently on sale for $49. I wear an XL.

Fit Note: The poncho is a one-size-fits-most, but it’s not oversized, especially considering it’s from a plus-size boutique. You can see my measurements here for an accurate size reference.

The Cozy Cuddles Poncho

Boots (similar) || Plaid Shirt wearing XXL

The Cozy Cuddle Poncho in tan gives a nod to Burberry style for a LOT LESS. It has a super thick turtle neck to keep you cuddly warm, but the body is thinner to cut down on bulk. It comes in black, navy, tan, and khaki. In the photos online, I can’t see a marked difference between the tan and khaki, so if you like one and it’s sold out, get the other.

Curvy Girl Style Tip

Tuck it! You could easily belt this poncho like the one above, but I decided to do a front tuck with the front of the poncho. For more coverage in the back, I would turn the poncho a quarter turn, so the pointed corners hung in front and back instead of on the sides.

For the office, you could definitely change out the buffalo plaid shirt I’m wearing underneath for a crisp white button-down tunic and a pair of black dress slacks.

Enchanted Winter Pullover

The Enchanted Winter Pullover, available in brown and gray (wearing), is what cozy, warm dreams are made of. I’m wearing a 2X because there is not much stretch in the fabric. Let me tell you it’s WARM and could easily be worn for campfires or cutting down a Christmas tree.

Curvy Girl Style Tip

This pullover is long and actually hit me at a very unflattering place at the top of my thighs. Instead of tucking, I rolled it under and up and let the hem of my checked shirt stick out. I’ve done the same with the sleeves and may have them hemmed up in the future.

Did you know a top that hits at your hip bone (the pointy piece just past your torso) is the most universally flattering length for tops? Ya-ha!

Snow Valley Vest & Curved Hem Slouchy Dolman Tunic

Snow Valley Vest & Curved Hem Slouchy Dolman Tunic

I’m wearing the 1X Snow Valley Vest in the same gray color as the pullover because I like me some grays, hence, the hair. 😉 It’s also available in the cozy brown. To be honest, I didn’t think I’d like a vest, but I may be a convert!

I’ve paired it with a “Slouchy” which is what the Chic Squad calls these Curved Hem Dolman Tunics. These will be the featured CYBER-DEAL on Sunday, December 1st.

They actually sent this along with the order and chose a color for me. I love bright coral they call “Grapefruit”! Because, as you know, left to my own devices, I would have probably gone neutral. 😉

Curvy Girl Style Tip

The Slouchy is long enough to cover your booty, so I paired it with leggings because I’m on the “NO LEGGINGS AS PANTS” team. No matter if you’re curvy or straight, just don’t! I should say “in my opinion” here, but… I not gonna. You know, this might be a biblical rule. 😉

As a general rule, I don’t like the “front butt” to show in leggings either. However, IF there’s no camel-toe and IF your leggings are dark enough and IF you don’t have a hangy-down-belly, you could try a front/side tuck or even a knotted hem here as long as the vest hangs below it. I didn’t think of it until after the photo session, or I would have tried it. Next time.

I absolutely love these 4 outfits on you! I gravitate towards bright colors, so the last outfit with the grapefruits top & vest caught my eye! I’m always self conscious about leggings and pairing the correct top with them. But that outfit’s a hit in my eyes, one that I’ll replicate. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  5. I am a leggings are not pants person also. lol Great styling tips. I did buy a belt but it is too big. I bought a plus size because the regular one wasn’t big enough but the plus-size is too big. Not sure where to take it to have it cut down. I haven’t heard of chic soul before but will be checking out the site.
